Aug. 7 (Asia Today) -- South Korea's presidential office convened an emergency security review meeting Thursday after North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea.
The National Security Office said officials from relevant agencies, including the Defense Ministry and Joint Chiefs of Staff, attended the emergency meeting.
Participants analyzed and assessed the potential impact of North Korea's ballistic missile launch on South Korea's security and reviewed necessary response measures, according to the presidential office.
"North Korea's ballistic missile launch is a provocative act that violates U.N. Security Council resolutions," the National Security Office said.
