Okebaram Okanimee, father of the slain former Student Union Government president of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Chimaroke, speaks to UCHE OKERE about the family’s dashed hope and the need for the government to expose and punish those behind his son’s death
How are you related to the deceased?
I am the father of the late Chimaroke Okanimee.
Could you recall how your son, Chimaroke, went missing?
The last time my son reached out was on July 24, 2026, in the morning around 8:58 am, when he spoke with Tochukwu, his sibling, on the phone. He had told his brother to find out something for him. So, in the evening when Tochukwu tried to give him feedback, he realised his number was unreachable. By Friday evening, nobody could reach him.
