All flights to and from Bristol Airport have been cancelled until at least 6am tomorrow, throwing weekend travel plans into chaos.
Aviation database Airport Webcams has said: "Airport currently closed for emergency runway repairs. Inbounds diverting to London/Gatwick, Birmingham & Cardiff."
Travel information website Inrix said: "Passengers should check the status of their flights before travelling to the airport."
Passengers at the airport have reported chaos, with some saying the "tannoy system" has also gone down.
Bristol Airport has said in a notice on its website: "Due to a defect on the runway, we have suspended operations in order to assess and repair the issue.
