Africa’s largest oil refinery has held off suppliers from the United States and the Middle East to remain Europe’s biggest external source of jet fuel for a second consecutive month, strengthening its position in a market that has been forced to redraw traditional supply routes.
Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refinery delivered more than 400,000 tonnes of jet fuel to Europe in July, accounting for roughly 20% of the region’s 2.06 million tonnes of imports during the month, according to European import data compiled by commodities intelligence firm Kpler.
The refinery remained ahead of established suppliers in the United States and the Middle East, a month after first taking the top position.
That makes July more significant than another record shipment.
Dangote first displaced the United States in June after delivering a record 466,000 tonnes of jet fuel to Europe, almost double the 232,000 tonnes it supplied in May. US shipments during June stood at about 399,000 tonnes.
