U.S.-based Pragda continues its foray into all-rights theatrical and digital distribution with the acquisition of North American rights to Nicolás Pereda’s latest pic, “Everything Else Is Noise” (“Todo lo demás es ruido”) ahead of its debuts at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) and the New York Film Festival (NYFF).
This marks the second pick-up from the 20+-year old company better known for academic licensing and cultural programming of Ibero-American cinema, following its acquisition of the Chilean historical drama “The Red Hangar” by Juan Pablo Sallato.
Since its world premiere at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, “Everything Else Is Noise” has snagged accolades across the international festival circuit, including the Grand Prix at the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival (BAFICI).
Not unlike his previous pics, “Everything Else Is Noise” is a dialogue-driven ensemble comedy packed with cringe humor.
It stars the prolific Mexican-Canadian auteur’s favorite band of collaborators, led by Teresita Sánchez (“Flies”), Luisa Pardo, Lázaro G. Rodríguez and Francisco Barreiro.
