Christopher Nolan‘s “The Odyssey” topped the U.K. and Ireland box office in July with a gross of £56.2 million ($75.6 million), as the market posted a total of £178.2 million ($239.7 million) for the month, 35% ahead of the equivalent five-week period in July 2025, according to Rentrak.
The 2025 comparison total of $177.1 million was driven by “Jurassic World Rebirth,” “Superman,” “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “F1 The Movie,” which contributed $44 million, $34 million, $23.7 million and $15.2 million respectively. Year-to-date U.K. grosses have passed $1.05 billion, running 18% ahead of 2025 and 34% ahead of 2024.
After three weeks on release, “The Odyssey” is the highest-grossing title of 2026 so far, ahead of “Michael” ($71.4 million) and “Toy Story 5” ($71.6 million). Nolan’s action epic is now his fourth-highest-grossing film, closing in on “The Dark Knight Rises” ($76 million), “Dunkirk” ($76.4 million) and “Oppenheimer” ($80.4 million). The film opened to $16.7 million, the second-biggest opening of Nolan’s career behind “The Dark Knight Rises” ($19.2 million). At the same stage of release, “Oppenheimer,” “Dunkirk” and “The Dark Knight Rises” had grossed $57.3 million, $56.6 million and $59.2 million respectively, putting “The Odyssey” well ahead of pace and on track to become Nolan’s highest-grossing release.
