Glass is one of the few packaging materials that can be recycled indefinitely without losing quality.

In practice, most used glass in India moves through an informal chain of collectors and aggregators.

It then arrives at a furnace mixed, contaminated and without a record of where any of it came from.

That matters more than it used to.

Brands now face recycled content targets and extended producer responsibility obligations.
