Scandinavian renewable energy giant Vattenfall has successfully bid to develop two new wind farms on behalf of the Danish Government.
The Swedish state-owned utility is set to develop the Hesselø and North Sea I Mid sites. When completed, these wind farms are expected to add a combined capacity of 1.8GW to Vattenfall’s ever-growing European portfolio.
These two new installations will bring Vattenfall’s footprint in Danish waters to a total of seven operational wind farms.
The Hesselø site, which is expected to have a capacity of around 800MW, sits in the Kattegat Sea, the narrow strait separating Denmark and Sweden.
The other site, known as North Sea I Mid, lies just off Denmark's west coast and will have a minimum capacity of 1GW.
