Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday (August 6) said multiple initiatives under Dairy Development Department helped to secure employment opportunities for over 2.25 lakh people and playing a crucial role in rural livelihood with formation of nearly 5,000 cooperative societies across the state.
“In the financial year 2024-25, India produced 248 million metric ton of milk and became the largest milk producing nation. Uttar Pradesh contributed 38.8 million metric ton of milk which is 16 percent of India’s total production, we were number one among all the states. Under our Nand baba dugdh mission, which is dream project of the respected Chief Minister, 4,951 primary milk cooperative societies have been formed in U.P. Helping to secure employment opportunities for roughly 2.25 lakh people, mostly in rural areas. 17,994 individuals are directly benefitted from the initiative helping to boost rural livelihood in the state,” told Dhanalakshmi K. Dairy Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, to The Hindu, in Lucknow.
