The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has cleared Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, of any involvement in the controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
It declared that the appointment letter presented by the alleged Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew, was forged.
Musa Aliyu, ICPC Chairman, disclosed the findings on Wednesday while presenting the Commission’s interim investigation report in Abuja, exactly 30 days after President Bola Tinubu directed the anti-corruption agency to investigate the activities of the alleged fake government council.
Aliyu said he had formally submitted the interim report to President Tinubu and briefed him on the outcome of the investigation before addressing journalists.
“I have just submitted the interim report and briefed Mr. President accordingly. The President took the right decision in the spirit of transparency and accountability and directed me to address the media for the benefit of Nigerians,” he said.
