US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday, August 6, at the White House that the war with Iran will conclude very soon and that an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz may be reached shortly. Responding to reporters regarding whether an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz had been finalized, Trump remarked that while he would not claim it is fully secured, the passage is currently partially open. He reiterated that the United States maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz and expressed doubt that Iranian forces could sustain operations much longer.
In his remarks, Trump also emphasized that the Iranian armed forces are facing shortages of certain weapons. These comments follow an August 4 report by Reuters indicating that the US military has expended a significant portion of its global stockpile of long-range, precision-guided missiles during the five-month war with Iran.
Trump and the White House rejected these reports, with the US President clarifying that while inventories of certain specific munitions are limited, the US holds an almost unlimited supply of other weapon types. He added that American defense contractors are constructing new manufacturing facilities, including plants dedicated to producing Patriot and Tomahawk missiles.
