Several high-profile companies in the financial industry have been targeted with social-engineering hacks in recent days, some of the companies confirmed.
The attacks have typically involved voice phishing, or vishing, a social engineering method that involves the use of technology to spoof the source of a phone call that’s placed to try to gain sensitive information, such as login credentials.
Two Sigma Investments, which handles $75 billion (£55.7bn) in assets, said it had warded off such an attack.
