Amateur Rajat Rai opened the 2026 Samoa Open with a four-under 68 on day one before coming out firing a five-under 67 in the second round at Faleata Golf Course. The 19-year-old currently holds a five-stroke lead over the professional field and a 10-stroke advantage over the amateur competitors.
Rai currently leads the professional field by five strokes and holds a 10-stroke advantage over the amateur competitors, sitting at nine-under par with a two-round total of 135.
His consistent performance across the opening two rounds has placed him at the top of the leaderboard, with the final round set to decide the Samoa Open champion tomorrow.
Bob Malase Maifea and Roneel Prakash remain Rai’s closest challengers, tied for second place on 140 after both shooting second-round scores of 68. Tomasi Tuivuna is also in contention on 140 after improving from a first-round 71 to card a 69 in the second round.
Steven Binns sits fifth on 141, while Carter Bryce is sixth on 145 after a second-round 71.
