The FAA has ordered inspections of 471 Boeing 737 Max jets over concerns that cracks could compromise the structural integrity of the aircraft.

Cracks were found near the upper corner of the forward galley door, with the potential to spread to the fuselage.

The directive, effective September 10, 2026, applies to 737-8, 737-9, and 737-8200 variants currently in service.

Boeing has been aware of the issue for six years, with the FAA-mandated checks stemming from similar inspections for older 737NG jets in 2021.
