A 32-year-old Nigerian, Osarenkhoe Atutie, has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for the attempted murder of a woman in Leith, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
According to a report published on the website of Police Scotland on Wednesday and seen by PUNCH Metro on Thursday, Atutie had earlier pleaded guilty to the violent offence.
The report stated that he was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday.
Police Scotland disclosed that the incident occurred on the morning of November 11, 2025, in the Duke Street area of Leith, where Atutie allegedly approached the 30-year-old woman, who was known to him, and repeatedly stabbed her in the head and body with a knife.
The report added that before emergency services arrived, members of the public came to the victim’s aid, apprehended Atutie nearby and restrained him until police officers arrived and arrested him.
