MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump refused to supply Ukraine with interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems to avoid damaging the image of the American military-industrial complex, lawmaker Viktor Vodolatsky told TASS.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that Trump refused to supply hundreds of interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems during a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky. In turn, the head of the Kiev regime complained about the shortage of interceptor missiles for air defense systems and accused Western partners of causing several Ukrainian facilities to be hit due to delayed deliveries.
"The Patriot system doesn’t work very well against our weapons systems. <...> To avoid damaging the image of the military-industrial complex, the US decided not to provide Ukraine with these systems because they are ineffective against Russian weapons. This would deal a very severe blow to the image of the US arms lobby," Vodolatsky said.
According to the lawmaker, the US itself also needs interceptor missiles to protect its interests in the Middle East.
