(SingCham Korea) Singapore marked its 61st National Day in Seoul on Thursday by showcasing its "Made in Singapore" vision while highlighting stronger business, innovation and strategic ties with South Korea.The event, organized by the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in Korea (SingCham Korea), brought together government officials, business leaders and members of the Singaporean community to commemorate Singapore's independence.Singapore, a former British colony, became independent on Aug. 9, 1965, after separating from Malaysia.Opening the event, SingCham Korea Chairman Justin Yong said "Made in Singapore" represents not only Singapore's economic success but also the resilience, innovation and talent that transformed the resource-scarce island into one of the world's leading economies."Made in Singapore is more than just a product label. It represents the dreams, ideas, culture and talent of the Singaporean people."Yong said Singapore's success was built on resilience, trust and investment in its people rather than abundant natural resources, adding that the country's development demonstrates how determination and ambition can overcome structural limitations.Singapore's Ambassador to Korea, Wong Kai Jiun, said bilateral ties had reached their strongest point after the two countries elevated relations to a Strategic Partnership in 2025, reflecting closer cooperation in trade, digital innovation and regional issues."The relationship between Singapore and the Republic of Korea has never been stronger."Wong said recent exchanges between President Lee Jae Myung and Singapore's leaders reflect expanding cooperation that now spans trade, innovation, supply chain resilience, sustainability and the green transition."These exchanges reflect the strength of our relationship at every level — from leaders and officials to businesses and people."He added that the "Made in Singapore" theme reflects the country's commitment to global partnerships."The story of 'Made in Singapore' begins in Singapore, but it does not end there."Business leaders also welcomed the growing economic relationship between the two countries."There has never been a better time for businesses from Korea and Singapore to invest, collaborate and drive the next generation of growth together," Seo Il-young, executive director of Youngjin tax coroporation, told The Korea Herald."I interacted with representatives from a diverse range companies and institutions tonight and could engage in broad discussions on changes in the global business environment and opportunities for cooperation," said Seo.He added that stronger Korea-Singapore cooperation would create new business opportunities despite growing global uncertainty.The celebration featured business showcases, networking sessions and exhibitions on Singapore's education, hospitality, innovation and lifestyle highlighting growing commercial and people-to-people exchanges between Singapore and South Korea.
