MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang will leave it to the Office of the Ombudsman to decide whether or not to order the preventive suspension of Health Secretary Jose Brittanio “Brix” Pujalte Jr. over two complaints.
“It is already within the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction to determine whether a preventive suspension should be imposed to ensure a cleaner and more impartial investigation of the complaint,” Palace press officer Claire Castro said on Wednesday.
She added that the recently appointed head of the Department of Health (DOH) has yet to speak with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. since the two complaints were filed separately against him before the Presidential Action Center and the Ombudsman.
Pujalte was at the Cabinet meeting led by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto in Malacañang on Wednesday.
