The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been trying to make the 2027 recruiting class very special and have been quite successful. A five-star quarterback leads Nebraska's class Trae Taylor and, several other blue-chip recruits like Tory Pittman, Khalil Taylor, Jordan Agbanoma, Corey Headley Jr., Timi Aliu, and Bryce Williams. However, even with this, Nebraska hasn't stopped trying to flip the commitment of Ahmad Hudson, who is now committed to LSU but has hinted he could flip to Nebraska.Could Nebraska Flip the No.1 Tight End In 2027?Nebraska has been pursuing Hudson for a while now. Hudson is the No. 1 TE in the 2027 recruiting class and would be an amazing addition to an already elite class. Hudson definitely hasn't shut down his recruitment, and he hasn't exactly said he is going to LSU. "The program you wouldn’t expect to be doing their job to try and get me to come there, is doing what they need to do. The program you most expect it from is not doing what they need to do," Hudson said. Hudson claimed that the school that is going to do what they need to do is Nebraska, and the one that's not is LSU. This statement from Hudson clearly shows that Nebraska is more active in recruiting Hudson than LSU.The Tigers and Lane Kiffin, the new head coach at LSU, would be extremely dumb to let Nebraska pull ahead in the Louisiana native's recruitment. Especially considering that Hudson is a two-sport athlete and a five-star recruit in basketball as well. Nebraska would love to have such an elite recruit in two sports. Notably, Nebraska has had some very good tight ends over the last few seasons, with both Thomas Fidone and Nate Boerkircher being drafted, albeit Boerkircher transferred to the Texas A&M Aggies after playing the majority of his career in Lincoln. Nebraska currently has several very talented tight ends and would love to add Ahmad Hudson to the group. Nebraska has something big on LSU...Nebraska may be able to get Hudson to flip his commitment for another reason- basketball. Hudson, of course, wants to play basketball as well, for either LSU or Nebraska, and the good news is simple: Nebraska's basketball team was way better in the 2025-26 season. LSU started 8-0 but still finished 15-17 and missed the postseason. Meanwhile, Nebraska started 20-0, finished the regular season 26-6, and reached the sweet 16 before being eliminated by the Iowa Hawkeyes. Fred Hoiberg comes into the 2026-27 season with a great team led by stars Pryce Sandfort and Brandon Frager. Nebraska hopes to get even deeper into the postseason and should be an easy Top 25 team coming into next season.Nebraska's success in basketball might really pique Hudson's interest in Nebraska. Not only could Hudson be an X-factor on the offense of the Nebraska football team, but he could be an X-factor on the basketball team as well. LSU does have football on Nebraska (although both were 7-6 in 2025), but Hudson may prefer Nebraska's talent in both sports. The fact that Nebraska has pursued Hudson this much might very well lead to a flip, helping both the basketball and football teams become great. If Nebraska really wants to flip Hudson, though, the Huskers need to show up and play really good football in 2026.For now, Hudson remains committed to LSU. However, neither Matt Rhule nor Fred Hoiberg has given up on Hudson. Hudson would be a huge get for the University of Nebraska in multiple sports. It definitely makes sense for the Huskers to be relentless in their pursuit of Hudson. Hudson could be a massive part of two sports for Nebraska, and the Huskers should only continue to try to flip Hudson.
