According to the Uganda Police Force, the 27-year-old footballer was attacked on Tuesday night in Makindye, a suburb of Kampala, after he reportedly resisted the robbery.

David Owori, captain of Uganda Premier League club SC Villa, has died after he was beaten by suspected robbers who allegedly attacked him outside his home in Kampala while attempting to steal his mobile phone and other belongings.

According to the Uganda Police Force, the 27-year-old footballer was attacked on Tuesday night in Makindye, a suburb of Kampala, after he reportedly resisted the robbery.

He was rushed to a nearby clinic before being transferred to a private hospital in the city, where he died on Wednesday from injuries sustained during the attack.

According to the BBC, witnesses said the attackers struck Owori several times with paving stones before stealing his belongings and fleeing the scene, leaving him unconscious.
