Factional dispute over Rivers ADC ticket
A fresh leadership crisis is brewing within the Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following competing claims over the party’s governorship ticket for the 2027 general elections. The Chukwudi Dimkpa–led state chapter declared Gabriel Pidomson, former Secretary to the State Government, the winner of the governorship primaries held between May 22 and 23, 2026.
However, Farah Dagogo, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Degema Federal Constituency, has rejected this outcome. Dagogo insists he secured the nomination through a separate primary conducted on May 22 by the Rivers State Governorship Primary Electoral Committee, which was constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) under the leadership of David Mark.
Electoral claims and counter-claims
Results released by the Agu Bryan–led electoral committee indicated that Dagogo polled 64,700 votes across all 319 wards in the state’s 23 local government areas. His closest challenger, Sokonte Davies, a former executive director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), reportedly received 9,050 votes. Bryan maintained that the exercise strictly adhered to party guidelines.
