MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/. The idea proposed by the opposition Law and Justice party to relocate the Russian embassy building in Warsaw would lead to a rupture of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski warned, emphasizing the harmful and unrealistic nature of such a scenario.
"If our colleagues from Law and Justice want to move the [Russian] embassy, let them say openly that they want a rupture of diplomatic relations - without this, it is impossible to implement the resolution they proposed [in the Sejm]," Sikorski said on Polskie Radio. "If they want this, let them say so openly, since no EU or NATO country has yet severed relations with Russia," the top Polish diplomat emphasized.
On November 21, 2025, the Polish Sejm adopted a resolution proposed by Law and Justice calling on the government to take possible steps, in accordance with international law, to relocate the Russian embassy building in Warsaw. The authors of the resolution justified the need for such a move by the proximity of the diplomatic mission to the republic's Ministry of Defense. In turn, Polish Foreign Ministry press spokesman Maciej Wewior called this Sejm decision non-binding for implementation.
