Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, believes that the most difficult phase of the crisis in Ukrainian-Polish relations has passed, although tensions within Polish society remain.
Bodnar made the remarks in an interview with European Pravda, according to Ukrinform.
He said relations between Ukraine and Poland have always been complex and are currently experiencing another period of strain driven by a combination of historical, political, and social factors.
According to the ambassador, the large number of Ukrainians living in Poland has created social tensions, despite their positive contribution to both the Polish economy and society. He also pointed to the upcoming parliamentary elections, saying some politicians seek to capitalize on issues related to Ukraine and Ukrainians. In addition, sensitive historical issues continue to complicate bilateral dialogue.
"The combination of these factors has led to the tensions we are currently seeing in our relations. It seems to me that we have already passed the most difficult stage of the crisis. However, these tensions are affecting ordinary people," Bodnar said.
