He had surgery to repair his knee and missed the remainder of the season, focusing on returning this spring. However, when he began to swing a bat in spring training, he developed an abdominal strain and was shut down. After a slow ramp-up from that injury, he developed wrist inflammation that has lingered into the summer.The team didn’t provide a timeline for his return to play when announcing Thursday’s news.Casas has sustained several injuries since finishing third in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, when he hit .263 with an .856 OPS and 24 homers in 132 games. The following season, he spent 99 games on the injured list after tearing a rib cartilage on a swing, and only played in 29 games in 2025.
