David Owori, the club captain of Ugandan club SC Villa, has died following what his club describe as a “brutal attack by unknown individuals”.SC Villa said the 27-year-old, popularly known as Colgate, who featured in midfield and at right-back and had represented Uganda internationally, was the victim of a “heinous crime”.“We have lost more than a player — we have lost a leader, brother and friend,” the club said.SC Villa’s spokesperson Asan Kasingye said the incident occurred just outside Owori’s residence in Makindye, a suburb of Uganda’s capital Kampala, at 8pm local time by “unknown thugs”.
