Dabur India has approached the Delhi High Court challenging FSSAI’s prohibition of sale order for some of its products carrying 100 per cent claims. On Monday, the Food Safety and Standards Authority directed the FMCG major to immediately cease the sale of food products carrying “100 per cent claims”, which includes honey, apple cider vinegar, virgin coconut oil, sesame oil, cow ghee, coconut water and coconut milk among others. In its social media post, the food safety authority said it had found that these products were being sold on the company’s website and were in contravention of the FSS (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018 as they are “ambiguous, unverifiable and likely to mislead consumers.” In a BSE filing, the company had earlier said that most of the affected products have either already transitioned to revised labels and advertisements without such claims or are in the process of doing so.Earlier on Thursday, at its Annual General Meeting, Dabur India’s management responding to shareholders’ queries reiterated that it complies with the prevailing legal and regulatory framework of the country and is committed to the highest standards of product quality, purity and food safety. “The notice from FSSAI pertains to industry-wide use of the term “100 per cent” and in no way questions the quality, safety and standards of Dabur’s products which are manufactured to the highest standards,” the company’s management added.Meanwhile, on the issue of USFDA’s letter regarding its Silvassa facility, the company said there is no impact on financial, operation or other activities of the company due to this warning letter. “The warning notice concerns only a small part of our manufacturing plant situated at Silvassa, in relation to export of private label products, which does not generate significant revenue for the company. Domestic products are not covered and not impacted by this order, The plant continues to be operational for the domestic market,” it said in a BSE filing. “We are continuing to engage with the USFDA authority by providing detailed corrective and preventive action plans along with proactive and strong action on the ground to fix the identified gaps,” the company added.Published on August 6, 2026
