A man has been charged with murder after a 36-year-old father was shot dead at a traveller site in Wiltshire. Jimmy Ward suffered fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene at about 8.15am on Sunday in Calcutt Traveller Site, a permanent council-approved site near Cricklade, on the outskirts of Swindon. Police announced today that 35-year-old Shane Porter, of Calcutt Park, has been charged with Mr Ward's murder and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before magistrates via videolink later today.Eddie Porter, 74, and Tammy Brown, 42, both of Luton, Bedfordshire, have each been charged with assisting an offender and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. They have also been remanded in custody and are to appear before magistrates via videolink on Thursday. Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, who passed on his condolences to Mr Ward's next of kin, said: 'A scene and increased policing presence will remain at the site in the coming days while further activity is carried out. The force added that two other men who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have since been released on bail. Tributes poured in for Mr Ward, who left behind a wife and children. One mourner wrote: 'RIP to my daughter-in-law's dad Jimmy Ward. Please everyone pray for all the family, my heart goes out to them all.''Very hard to believe. Rest in heavenly peace my cousin Jimmy Ward,' added another.'Thinking of all the family and friends at this very sad time, sending lots of love to his wife and children. Far too young to die, rest in peace,' said another local.Others described him as 'a gentleman.'
