Lindsay Clancy wails as jury is shown graphic autopsy photos of kids

Lindsay Clancy wailed and sobbed loudly in court as the jury in charge of deciding her fate were shown graphic autopsy images of her three dead children, as medical examiner Dr Kimberley Springer took the stand on Thursday.Clancy is accused of murdering Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, eight months, using exercise bands in the basement of her Duxbury home in January 2023.The Massachusetts mom then tried to end her own life after slashing her wrists and neck before jumping from a second-story window. Clancy has pleaded not guilty in her case citing postpartum psychosis, a rare but serious medical emergency characterized by a rapid onset psychiatric episode. The prosecution maintains that the former nurse's actions were premeditated and deliberate. Follow the Daily Mail for more updates... Dr Springer is looking at the autopsy photos from Callan’s autopsy and describing what she noted.She said there are abrasions on his neck and hemorrhages on the face and under the skin.The jury is being shown the images but the public gallery cannot see them.Clancy is now sobbing loudly and uncontrollably at the defense table. She is making gasping, gulping sounds and her whole body is shaking.14:37Witness three: Susan FreoneShe worked at Learning Sprouts, the preschool daycare that Cora and Dawson attended. Dawson started at the school in September 2022 and was in her class. She then went on maternity leave that November.Around October, Dawson began struggling more with dropoffs at the preschool, she said.During all her interactions with Clancy and the children, she didn’t notice anything concerning she said.14:32Pediatrician 'always thought Clancy was a good mom'Under cross-examination from Clancy’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington, the pediatrician confirmed that the children always seemed healthy and happy.During all her interactions with the family, she agreed that Clancy appeared to be a doting and concerned mother to her children. ‘I always thought she was a good mom,’ she testified.The pediatrician also admitted that she did not know about Clancy’s mental health struggles.She did not know that Clancy was seeing a psychiatrist for months, was on several psychiatric medications, that she had contacted a suicide helpline, and that she was voluntarily admitted to hospital a few weeks before the killings.14:25Pediatrician did not see any signs of postpartum issues in ClancyAs a pediatrician, she was also trained to spot postpartum issues in the mother. Typically, this meant looking out for signs such as the mother having a flat affect, being tearful, avoiding eye contact or having trouble bonding with her baby.She told the court that she did not note any of these signs in Clancy and did not see a need to refer her for postpartum support. On January 24, 2023 - the day of the killings - Clancy brought Cora in for her annual checkup. Again that day, she said she saw no signs that Clancy was suffering from postpartum. She had no trouble answering questions or understanding her, had no visible tears and did not have a flat affect, she testified.14:20Witness two: Pediatrician Dr Lindsay RosshirtThe second witness on the stand today is pediatrician Dr Lindsay Rosshirt. Back in January 2023, she was working at South Shore Hospital and was the Clancy family’s pediatrician.Cora, Dawson and Callan’s pediatric medical records have been entered as evidence.Aside from Cora having asthma, she testified that all three were typical healthy children.14:13Court back in sessionAfter around a 30-minute recess, the court is back in session.Lindsay Clancy is sitting back at the defense table, this time wearing glasses. She appears to be calmer now.13:50Court takes quick recessAfter Dr Springer's testimony, Judge William Sullivan called a brief recess.Clancy was taken out of court in her wheelchair, loudly sobbing and making guttural wails.13:47Callan's cause of death confirmedThe medical examiner confirmed that Callan’s official cause of death was complications of mechanical asphyxia.This is because he was resuscitated after being strangled and had a heartbeat. In the public gallery, there are fewer people here than yesterday - about 10 members of public and 20 members of the media.
