The European Union’s power grid operators are preparing to handle the ⁠effects the ⁠total solar eclipse ​expected in Spain ⁠will have on ⁠electricity ‌consumption, European ⁠Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen ​said on Thursday.

“Given the ‌fact that it should be taking place ​towards the afternoon, ‌its impact is not ​expected to be huge,” ⁠she said.

The ‌eclipse ​is expected to ‌occur ⁠on ⁠August 12.
