One of X’s most visible executives is heading for the door. Nikita Bier is stepping down as the platform’s head of product after roughly 13 months in the job.
He arrived with a specific reputation. Bier is a serial entrepreneur known for building viral apps aimed at teenagers, and he joined X in July 2025 to inject some of that instinct into an aging product.
His output was prolific. During his tenure Bier oversaw the launch of some 30 new products, an aggressive pace of experimentation on a platform that had grown creaky under years of turmoil.
His farewell was characteristically online. Bier called the role a 24/7 job and said it was time to pass the torch and demote himself to his natural state, a poster, while staying on as an adviser.
The departure is not happening in calm waters. X has lurched through a run of controversies during his time there, several of them tied to its AI assistant Grok.
