India has reversed a ban on its seafarers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, introducing strict security protocols three weeks after the restriction was imposed.
Individual seafarers must provide consent before transiting the strait, and operators must notify India's maritime directorate of all such voyages.
The ban followed the deaths of three Indian sailors killed in Iranian strikes on merchant vessels in the conflict-affected area in July.
India has overtaken China as the world's second-largest supplier of seafarers, with more than 300,000 sailors comprising over 12 per cent of global shipping fleets.
