SBI Mutual Fund, the country’s largest fund house, will launch its its second investment strategy under the Specialised Investment Fund framework, Magnum Equity Ex-Top 100 Long Short Fund.The open-ended investment strategy will invest in equity and equity-related instruments, including limited short exposure in equity through derivative instruments, of stocks other than large cap stocks. The new fund offer will be open for subscription on August 7.The investment objective of the strategy is to generate long-term capital appreciation by investing in stocks outside the top 100 by market capitalisation, while utilising limited short exposure through derivatives to enhance returns and manage risk.Debasish Mishra, MD & CEO, SBI Funds Management, said with its emphasis beyond the top 100 companies and its systematic long‑short construct, this fund broadens product suite in a way that supports the diverse and increasingly sophisticated expectations of investors.Long‑term value“Our effort remains centred on delivering thoughtful, well‑structured strategies that create long‑term value while aligning with the changing dynamics of the investment landscape,” he said.The strategy will primarily invest in equity and equity‑related instruments, REITs, debt and money market instruments, InvITs and gold and silver ETFs. Exposure to gold through investment in units of MF schemes of the same or another asset management company will not exceed 5 per cent of the net asset value of the investment strategy.For new investors in Magnum SIF, the minimum purchase amount is ₹ 10 lakhs and in multiples of ₹ 1. For existing investors, ₹1,00,000 per application and in multiples of ₹1 thereafter. The benchmark for the investment strategy is BSE 500 TRI.The Magnum Equity Ex‑Top 100 Long Short Fund will be managed by Gaurav Mehta, CFA, Head of SIF Equity, who also manages our other SIF offering, the Magnum Hybrid Long Short Fund.Published on August 6, 2026
