Florida, Virginia and Texas are the three U.S. states that provide the best conditions for disabled veterans, according to a study. Research by SmileHub found that those three states provide veterans with the best health, economic and infrastructure support, whereas Mississippi, Vermont and Delaware provide the least amount of support in these areas when specifically referencing disabled veterans. There are some 5.8 million veterans in the U.S. with a service-connected disability, according to figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Via the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the federal government provides support to disabled veterans, including through disability benefits, but state provisions to help disabled veterans vary. SmileHub compared the 50 U.S. states in the following three main areas: health and rehabilitation access; infrastructure and community support; and economic stability and long-term security.
