A court in Russia’s Kaliningrad region has sentenced a Lithuanian citizen to 13 1/2 years in prison on espionage charges, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported Wednesday.

According to the report, the Lithuanian national was found guilty of spying for about 13 years and will serve the sentence in a maximum-security penal colony.

Russian authorities did not disclose the person’s identity.

Interfax said the court found that the Lithuanian citizen collected and passed on information classified as a state secret while in Russia between 2011 and 2024.

The report said authorities confiscated the person’s mobile phone and what they described as specialised equipment allegedly used for espionage.
