Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said communication with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is “very difficult at the moment,” while describing the new leader as a major source of strength for the country.
Pezeshkian made the remarks in an interview with state news agency IRNA broadcast on Iranian television on Aug. 5 to mark the end of his second year in office.
He said former supreme leader Ali Khamenei had provided strong support to his government and that his death had deprived the administration of an important source of backing.
