After Orlando Pirates snapped Mamelodi Sundowns' long-standing dominance to claim the league crown, former Bafana Bafana striker Lehlohonolo Majoro believes the upcoming Betway Premiership season promises to be one of the most thrilling in recent memory.

"Having seen Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs finish first, second, and third respectively, it's really encouraging for us as football fanatics because it's been a long time since we've seen a table look like that,” Majoro told IOL in an exclusive interview.

Majoro knows the pressure of the big stage intimately. During the peak of his career between 2011 and 2016, he featured prominently for both Chiefs and Pirates, alongside top-flight stints with AmaZulu, Bidvest Wits, and Cape Town City, while earning a five-year run with the national team.

Sundowns had captured eight consecutive league titles before Pirates finally dethroned them last season. While Masandawana remain the benchmark given their formidable squad depth, Majoro emphasizes that a more balanced, competitive league ultimately elevates South African football as a whole.
