The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure has intensified efforts to commercialise locally developed innovations as part of its strategy to create jobs, stimulate economic growth and accelerate Nigeria’s industrialisation.
The agency’s Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Khalil Halilu, disclosed this on Wednesday while declaring open the final physical pitching exercise of the maiden edition of the NASENI Innovation Assessment and Awards Programme in Abuja.
Halilu said NASENI was deliberately building a pipeline of innovations capable of attracting investment, boosting local manufacturing and addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges through commercially viable technologies.
According to him, the competition was designed not merely to select winners but to identify ideas that could be transformed into products, businesses and industries.
“Our objective goes beyond selecting winners. We are identifying innovations with the potential for commercialisation, institutional adoption and national impact.
