The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, has facilitated the registration of 150 businesses owned by Persons with Disabilities with the Corporate Affairs Commission, as part of a drive to move entrepreneurs with disabilities from informal economic activity into structured and compliant businesses.
The beneficiaries are also undergoing enterprise development training covering financial literacy, bookkeeping, tax compliance, branding, digital visibility and entrepreneurial resilience, with the state government saying formalisation and business knowledge are necessary for entrepreneurs to build enterprises capable of surviving beyond individual interventions.
The programme, themed “Beyond Limits: Building Sustainable and Compliant Enterprises,” was held on Monday at the STO Resource Centre Hall, Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking at the programme, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Oluwatoyin Oke-Osanyintolu, said the intervention was designed to address two interconnected challenges facing many entrepreneurs with disabilities: access to economic opportunities and the capacity to sustain businesses once established.
She said business registration was therefore being combined with practical enterprise training rather than treated as an end in itself.
