Infantino to remain as FIFA boss following crisis meeting

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is set to remain in office following a crisis meeting in Morocco on Wednesday.

Infantino met with senior executives from the world football governing body, including Secretary General Mattias Grafström, in Rabat to discuss the fallout from FIFA's disastrous private investment plan announcement last week.

The scrapped proposal, which would have invited third parties to take minority, non-controlling investments in a new commercial subsidiary dubbed the "FIFA Forward Enterprise" (FFE), sparked fierce backlash from across the football community and saw some within FIFA attempt to distance themselves from the situation, including Grafström.

Despite this, FIFA issued a statement late on Wednesday saying that Infantino retained the "full support" of Grafström and members of the FIFA management board.

According to the statement, FIFA acknowledged that "mistakes" were made with regards to the FFE, which the governing body had said could raise up to $4.2 billion based on an initial equity valuation of $20 billion.
