Communications-services companies rose after strong Disney earnings.

Disney shares rallied after the launch of "Toy Story 5" bolstered quarterly earnings. The entertainment conglomerate is considering adding free, ad-supported channels to its streaming portfolio and will add more sports content to its Disney+ hub.

Flutter Entertainment, parent of the FanDuel sports-betting service, said Chief Executive Peter Jackson would step down as CEO in September. The company also said it was ending a joint venture with exchange operator CME.
