The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the arrest of a suspected vandal linked to the destruction of six electricity transmission towers along the Yola–Jalingo 330kV transmission line, warning that the attack posed a serious threat to Nigeria's power infrastructure.
The company disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the suspect was apprehended after a joint operation involving TCN officials and the Nigeria Police Force, while part of the stolen transmission tower components was also recovered.
According to TCN, the vandalism was uncovered on July 29, 2026, during a routine patrol by its engineers, who discovered that six transmission towers—T995, T998, T999, T1002, T1003 and T1004—had been extensively damaged.
