Everton have completed the signing of midfielder Christian Norgaard from Arsenal.The Athletic reported on August 1 that Everton had reached an agreement in principle to sign the 32-year-old for a fee in the region of £7million ($9.4m).The 41-time Denmark international joined the north London club last summer from Brentford for £10million ($13m), plus a further £2m in potential add-ons.

Coming here just makes that feeling even stronger.”His arrival follows the exit of Idrissa Gueye as a free agent following the conclusion of his contract on Merseyside after four seasons.Norgaard becomes Everton’s fourth signing and their third midfield arrival of the summer, following Hayden Hackney joining from Middlesbrough and Merlin Rohl joining permanently from Freiburg following a loan stint.Tyrique George, who also spent the second half of last season on loan at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, has also arrived permanently from Chelsea.Despite being part of the squad that helped win the Premier League, Norgaard struggled for game time in north London. The midfielder made just 20 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side, with only seven of those appearances coming in the English top flight.That was despite Mikel Merino missing the final three months of the season through injury, with Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Myles Lewis-Skelly among those who were afforded more first-team minutes than Norgaard.Norgaard had previously been a regular in Brentford’s side across six season, making 196 appearances for the club and helping them win promotion to the top flight. He captained the club between 2023 and 2025.Norgaard would be the second Arsenal first-team squad player to move on this summer, following Leandro Trossard’s transfer to Besiktas.
