Nyesom Wike, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has announced that a broad political coalition combining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and Action Alliance (AA) has formed in Rivers State to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike dismissed the electoral chances of opposition parties in the oil-rich state. He urged political strategists to remove Rivers State completely from their victory calculations, asserting that only President Tinubu can win the state.
Cross-party alliance targets federal development
Wike explained that the strategic alliance unites members from multiple political parties into a single voting bloc. While candidates for the House of Assembly and the National Assembly will run on different party platforms, the coalition will collectively back the most acceptable candidate regardless of affiliation.
According to the Minister, the movement prioritises the state’s access to federal infrastructure projects and governance relevance over individual party ideologies. He described the arrangement as an all-inclusive grassroots initiative spreading rapidly to secure an outright victory for the incumbent president.
