The bipartisan bill would require social media platforms to exercise reasonable care to avoid harming minors, but faces a House standoff over a key provision

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee advanced the Kids Online Safety Act on Wednesday, moving the bipartisan legislation one step closer to a full Senate floor vote, according to CNBC.
The bill, known as KOSA, was introduced by Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and has 76 Senate cosponsors. The committee passed it unanimously. Three other children's safety measures also cleared the committee on Wednesday, including the Youth AI Privacy Act and two bills targeting artificial intelligence safety for minors.
