One person was injured after Russian forces launched nearly 50 strikes across five districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region on Wednesday, Aug. 5, cutting power to nearly 55,000 residents in the Nikopol area alone.Regional military administration head Oleksandr Hanzha reported the attacks in a statement on Telegram, detailing strikes carried out with drones, artillery, and at least one aerial bomb.JOIN US ON TELEGRAMFollow our coverage of the war on the @Kyivpost_official.“Power engineers are already working,” Hanzha said, adding that “they are doing everything possible to restore electricity to resident’s homes as soon as possible.”Nikopol area bears brunt of the strikeThe heaviest damage occurred in the Nikopol district, where Russian forces targeted the city of Nikopol, along with the Marhanets, Pokrovske, Myriv, Tomakivka, and Chervonohryhorivka communities.The strikes damaged a business, a store, a gymnasium, an apartment building, private homes, vehicles, and local infrastructure.Nikopol has remained one of the hardest hit areas since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, with the district facing near-daily bombardment.On Monday, Aug. 3, four people were injured in the district alone, including a 33-year-old woman who was hospitalized in moderate condition.These consistent attacks on the Nikopol district prompted Hanzha to build a school shelter in the frontline community, bringing 120 students and teachers back to class as of July 1.The construction reportedly took three months and cost approximately HR.21 million ($468.714), with funding provided by the Czech Republic and the local community.
