High-summer heat calls for lounging in chairs in the shade and tables set for al fresco dining at dusk. Rowen & Wren’s marble Sorrel table paired with red stainless-steel bistro chairs gives the air of a French country garden, while &Tradition’s teak table with bronze-green legs, designed by Anderssen & Voll, is firmly Scandi-chic. For much-needed shadow, a fringed Plia parasol wrapped in Christopher Farr ikat stripe fabric will do the trick, or to bask in the sun try Fritz Hansen’s Pelagus sunbed with its minimal silhouette.
Rupert Bevan’s debut outdoor line, The Clement, is a collection of slender upholstered chairs, a matching bench and table, made in Shropshire. “I wanted it to have the comfort and warmth of interior furniture while remaining robust enough for outdoor living,” says Bevan. “That’s why we’ve used materials such as zinc, which you might naturally find in a kitchen.” Meanwhile, Fermoie has launched a new range of outdoor fabric and cushions made from water-resistant recycled fibres that will cheer up every terrace and balcony with stripes and seashells.
