SCUF is back with another premium, esports-focused, PS5-style controller, and it's one of the best options on the market, although there are some drawbacks.15:52, 05 Aug 2026If you're looking for a performance-focused controller for PS5 and PC, the SCUF Omega is one of the best around, despite some minor drawbacks.‌With so many premium PS5 and PC controllers around these days, from the likes of Razer, Nacon, PlayStation itself, and many more, it means those who enter this crowded market must show innovation and include features that differentiate their product from others. And with the SCUF Omega, there's certainly innovation on display, and while most of it is good stuff, not all of it pays off.‌Let's check out the SCUF Omega PS5 and PC controller.‌SCUF Omega design and featuresThe SCUF Omega is packed to the brim with premium, cutting-edge features, including TMR thumbsticks, Omron mechanical switches and buttons (including the triggers), tri-mode connectivity (2.4GHz Wireless, Wired and Bluetooth), a tournament cable lock and of course, RGB lighting.The controller features eleven (yes, eleven) additional customisable inputs, with the most interesting being the two side buttons, which sit just below my forefinger, at the top of my palm, when my hands are using the controller, making them very easy to press. You also get five buttons at the bottom of the controller, which SCUF calls the G-Keys, with PS5 default functions like volume down and mute, but they are fully customisable on PC.You also get 1,000 Hz polling, over both wired and wireless, but only on PC. The controller is locked to 250 Hz polling on PS5, but this applies to any PS5 controller, as that polling rate is firmware-locked by the console itself.‌Interestingly, the switch for changing the connectivity mode is located under the controller faceplate, which is completely removable, and connects magnetically to the body. It's a pretty flimsy piece of plastic, so you have to be careful with it, because you might well be taking it off a lot, depending on how you use the controller. The d-pad and ABXY buttons are also removable and interchangeable.The controller also features the famous PS5 touchpad design, but lacks the haptic feedback you get with a first-party PS5 controller. In fact, this controller has no haptic feedback or vibration of any kind, firstly because vibrations can impact aim in clutch situations and two, because it reduces the weight of the controller, which is just 254 grams.It also looks great, particularly in the smoky, see-through design of the Smoke colourway. What's not to love? Design and features wise, it's top.‌SCUF Omega design and features: 5/5SCUF Omega performanceEvery button and trigger on the SCUF Omega is super satisfying to use, with the Omron mechanical buttons and switches being incredibly clicky and responsive. The joysticks feel great, too, in that they're nice and tight, which is my personal preference, particularly for FPS games where every little movement matters.Ergonomically, it's probably the best controller I've ever used, and that's thanks to the incredible sticky grips on the back, which feel fantastic when you're using it, but it also keeps your palms gripped to the controller very nicely. Every button is within reach when holding the controller, too, which adds to the usability.‌Customising the controller was really easy to use, too, using the controller itself, or the SCUF app to remap buttons and adjust deadzones etc.Overall, the controller was pretty awesome to use, but there were some minor frustrations.My biggest issue was the side buttons, which were a major innovation, and it's great to see new things on controllers, but for me, they were just far too easy to press, and as I didn't have any muscle memory for using them, getting used to the placement of them was difficult. I would often press them in clutch moments, too, when I really didn't want to, and that adds to the overall annoyance! Maybe I would get used to them after using them for a few months, but in a few weeks, I just couldn't.‌Then there's the removable faceplate, which feels a bit flimsy, but that's not a major issue. The Issue is the fact that the connection switch is behind the faceplate, which means if you want to use this controller for PC, PS5 and mobile, you'll be constantly taking the faceplate off to flick the switch, which is pretty annoying. Surely a gap could have been cut out of the faceplate, like it is for the PS button?And it's the same situation with the switches on the back of the triggers, which are super small, and they're just a bit annoying to use. The overall build quality isn't the most impressive overall, due to the amount of plastic, but then again, this is a controller built for performance, so you can understand that to an extent.These are minor annoyances, granted, but considering this is a premium, cutting-edge controller, these sorts of little annoyances aren't something you'd expect.‌SCUF Omega performance: 4/5SCUF Omega value for moneyThe SCUF Omega ain't cheap, it comes in at £209.99 / $219.99, which puts it firmly in the premium controller category.For comparison, the Sony DualSense Edge, a first-party PS5 and PC option, with vibration and haptics, comes in at £199.99. Then you have other third-party options, like the Razer Raiju V3 Pro, which has similar features but is more bland in style, and comes in at £199.‌Nacon's Revolution 5 Pro is only £159, whereas the excellent Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is only £179.99.It's one of the most expensive controllers on the market right now, but it is the newest and has some of the most cutting-edge features.SCUF Omega value for money: 4/5Article continues belowSCUF Omega overall thoughtsThe SCUF Omega is one of the best PS5 and PC controllers you can buy, with satisfying buttons, great connectivity options, a strong polling rate (on PC) and a superb ergonomic feel.But, there are some small annoyances, and considering the price is very premium, even compared to the controllers with similar features, I can't call it the absolute best, in my opinion, but it will be for some people!
