Spotify Technology SA (NYSE:SPOT) stated that agreements with every major music label weren't required before launching its AI music service.
During the earnings call, Co-CEO Gustav Söderström said the company does not require a complete catalog agreement.
He said Spotify wants to include as many artists as possible but noted that the platform originally launched without major acts and expanded its catalog over time.
Söderström added that Spotify plans to first release the AI music product as a public research preview to gather user preference data and improve its models before deciding on a full launch.
"We would like to have as many artists as possible, obviously, but we don’t expect to have all artists," he said.
