U.S. President Donald Trump reported that negotiations with Iran are ongoing, stating that the talks are progressing “very well.” However, he simultaneously warned that if no agreement is reached, the United States will hit Iran “very hard.”
Speaking to Fox News early Wednesday morning, August 5 (Iran time), Trump noted that discussions with Tehran had continued throughout Tuesday.
When asked about the possibility of Iran backing out of a deal, he said, “If they back out again, they will be hit very hard. They know this themselves and fully understand it.”
The U.S. President also cautioned that if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened “soon,” Iran will be targeted. Reaffirming that the Islamic Republic must never obtain nuclear weapons, he added, “The main strike is still on the way, and I hope we won’t have to use it.”
In another segment of the interview, Trump stated that Islamic Republic officials continue to deny holding negotiations with the United States and claim that nuclear issues are being discussed. Accusing the Iranian leadership of lying, he added, “They want to make a deal; let’s see what happens. If they don’t want to make a deal, it will end very badly for them.”
