Rod Stewart cancelled a show in Niagara Falls just hours before he was due to set foot on stage amid concerns over the aircraft that would take him there, just weeks after his third cancellation of the tour11:03, 05 Aug 2026Updated 11:10, 05 Aug 2026Rod Stewart apologised to fans for cancelling another concert just hours before the show was supposed to start. This comes only a few weeks after he axed another show at the last minute due to health issues, before attending the World Cup.‌The singer, 81, broke the news on his Instagram stories in a post that read: "Important information about tonight's show. Due to a mechanical fault with the aircraft's landing gear, Rod Stewart is regretfully unable to travel to Niagara Falls and must postpone tonight's performance at Fallsview Casino Resort. Rod is deeply disappointed and apologises to fans for the inconvenience."‌Stewart added that he hoped to reschedule the concert for next year: "He looks forward to returning for the rescheduled performance on Thursday, March 4, 2027 where he promises to make it up to his fans. Purchased tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled date. Existing complimentary reservations will be cancelled."‌This gig was part of Stewart's final large-scale global arena tour, as he has said he would like to continue with smaller venues in the future. Back in 2024, when the tour was announced, he said: "This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do and I do what I love. I'm fit, have a full head of hair and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79."I'd like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not."‌This most recent cancellation comes after Stewart, who became famous as part of the 1970s band Faces prior to his solo career, had to drop out of a California gig on medical grounds.Back in June, the singer was supposed to perform at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, but had to pull out. "Rod Stewart very regretfully has had to cancel his show tonight in Chula Vista, California,” his statement posted read.‌“He travelled to the venue and made every effort to perform, but on the advice of his doctors and following a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection that has resulted in laryngitis, he is unable to take to the stage this evening.”Stewart was in Chula Vista at the time and told fans he was "feeling much better" but that he had lost his voice. He shared an image of himself on an empty stage and wrote: "Well here I am in beautiful Chula Vista as the stage is being taken down around me. Following treatment, I'm feeling much better, but my voice is not."I'm very disappointed and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I did everything I could to make the show happen tonight, but unfortunately it just wasn't possible. I will do my utmost to reschedule.”‌This sparked a swathe of controversy when he was seen at a World Cup match just hours later. He did admit afterwards that it "wasn’t a good look" but said he wanted to go for his two sons, Alastair, 20, and Liam, 31, who he didn’t want to "let down".The June cancellation also came after he had to pull out of two shows in May. Whilst recovering from a sinus infection, he cancelled two shows in Las Vegas. As such, the most recent cancellation is his fourth this tour.Stewart isn't the only start to cancel a gig this week, as Barry Manilow, 83, cancelled a Kentucky show this week due to "unforseen circumstances". He said in a statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s show in Lexington has been rescheduled."Article continues belowLike this story?
